19 MAY CELEBRATED WITH GREAT ENTHUSIASM IN KUŞADASI

The 19 May Atatürk Commemoration, Youth and Sports Day was celebrated with folklore performances, dancing, music recitals, Taekwondo demonstrations and poetry readings in Kuşadası.

The celebrations for the 19 May Atatürk Commemoration, Youth and Sports Day in Kuşadası began at 09:55 with the laying of a wreath at the Atatürk Monument on the seafront by Ramazan Oğuz Verim, the District Head of Youth and Sports. The official ceremony which followed was attended by Kuşadası District Governor İbrahim Keklik, Kuşadası Acting Mayor Tahsin Demirtaş, administrative officials serving in the district, representatives of political parties and civil society organisations, students and members of the public.

Following a minute’s silence and the singing of the National Anthem, Kuşadası District Governor İbrahim Keklik and Acting Mayor Tahsin Demirtaş congratulated the students and citizens on the occasion. After speeches highlighting the significance of the day, the folklore, dance and Taekwondo performances were well received by those attending the ceremony. The recitation by students of “Atatürk’s Address to the Youth and the Youth’s Response to Atatürk” during the celebration programme was also met with great applause.

Ramazan Oğuz Verim, the Head of District Sports, who delivered the opening speech at the ceremony, said;

 “Dear young people, the Republic of Türkiye, established through great sacrifice amidst hardship and deprivation, with the lives of thousands of martyrs, is entrusted to you. You, the young people who will have a say in the country’s governance in the near future, will lead the nation towards the goal set by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. May your 19 May Atatürk Commemoration, Youth and Sports Day be a joyous occasion.”
